Sources for Service Manuals, etc.

The official GM manual comes from Helms, and runs about $80 US, but is still well worth it if you consider the $$ saved on one significant repair. You can order these directly from Helms at:

Another very useful reference is a parts identification book, not a repair book. It is most useful when combined with a good shop manual, like the Helms manual. The GM 22P Pontiac Fiero Parts and Illustration Manual covers all years and all models of the Fiero and provides both all of the GM part numbers (useful when talking to the parts guy at your local Pontiac dealership) as well as exploded views of most all assemblies, which come in very handy when you're trying to I.D. that oddball fastener or bit of bracketry.

Note: As of September, 1999, Tuar is out-of-stock on the 22P books. If you find one at a reasonable price, grab it, since they remain a very useful reference, and will never be reprinted.

Details on Tuar are:

Be sure to ask for: 22P Pontiac Fiero Parts and Illustration Manual

Tuar does NOT do telephone/credit-card orders. You WILL need to send them a check or money order. However, it would be a good idea to call first just to verify that they still have some of the 22P books left, since a number of listies have gotten 'em already. At $10 (US), it's a steal!

...I have one of each...the 22P covers all years, all models. The Helms is year-specific but covers all models/variants for that year. Between the two of them, I'm ready to tackle just about anything not requiring an engine hoist or other heavy tools I don't have.

This book covers the whole 60-degree family of V6's from the 2.8 liter in the Fiero to the newer 3.4-liter, so is likewise valuable to those who are doing the stroker upgrade to 3.1 or swapping the whole block for the 3.4-liter.
